What we hold, and why.

Written to be read. Where something is not settled yet, it says so rather than covering the gap with a general phrase.

What we store

  • Your account. Email address, name if you give one, a hashed password, and the roles that decide what you can reach.
  • Your books. The subject you supply, the outline, the manuscript, the specification, and the finished files.
  • Your billing record. What you bought, when, in what currency, and the reference the payment provider gave it. Card details never reach us — they go to the payment provider directly.
  • Operational logs. Enough to investigate a failure and to detect someone attacking an account. Manuscript text is never written to a log.

How a manuscript is protected

A manuscript is the sensitive asset here — an unpublished book is worth something precisely because it has not been published. It is encrypted at rest, and separated from every other account by the database itself rather than by application code: the connection the application uses cannot bypass those rules, so a bug in a query cannot return another account’s work. There is a test suite whose only job is to try to break that separation, and it runs before anything ships.

The question we have not finished answering

Generating a book means sending text to upstream language-model services. We are still settling what those services retain, for how long, and whether it can be used for training. We are treating that as a question to close before launch rather than after, and we would rather write this paragraph than imply a guarantee we cannot yet make.

When it is settled, this page will say plainly which services are involved, what their retention period is, and what you can turn off.

What we do not do

  • We do not use your manuscripts to train models, and we do not sell or share your content.
  • We do not load fonts, analytics or scripts from third-party domains on this site. Every typeface is served from our own, so visiting this page does not disclose your address to anyone else.
  • We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

Your control

  • Export. The manuscript and the finished files, at any time, whether or not you are still subscribed.
  • Deletion. Ask and we delete your account and its content. Backups roll off on their own schedule, so a copy can persist there briefly after the live record is gone.
  • Correction and access. Ask what we hold about you, and have it corrected.

Write to support@bookgrid.net for any of these.

If you came through a partner

Some products built on this platform are operated by other companies under their own name. If you signed up through one of those, they are who you contracted with and their privacy notice governs your relationship with them. Your content stays separated from every other account on the platform in exactly the way described above.
